94 previa dx temp gauge

I need some info please, 94 previa dx, had a thermostat failure. engine got hot but temp gauge only went to 3/4. My ? is why not go to red? and where is the sending unit for temp ga? thanks for any help. David.

Perhaps it didn't get hot enough to go completely into the red? It's a nice thought anyway :wnk:. I don't have my service manuals available to me, but I'm pretty sure the temperature gauge sending unit is on the front of the head accessible through the passenger side access hole (passenger seat, jack, and panel need to be removed).
