Security button???

Hi all,
to the left of my steering column there is a black button with the word 'security' written underneath.
i'm presuming this is something to do with the alarm system but i have no idea how to use it or even if i need to use it!
any help would be massively appreciated :-)

Since it's not a US van it's possibly something Toyota only did for foreign (to us) markets, but I'm guessing it's an add-on. The newest Previa I've owned was a 93, so it's also possible it's something they started in 94 that I'm not aware of. Anybody else have that button? Tim

alarm was always optional, there was the very rare factory alarms for USA, but you can only tell you have one by the big light on top of the fuse box lid, otherwise dealer installed ones don't have it

I got the security button on my 95 as we'll and the light anyone know how to use it. I've seen 2 other vans with this at my local pick a part if anyone needs parts
