I have a 91 Previa with some electrical woes. It is an intermittent problem.
The gauges, temp, gas and speedometer don't work. Along with the idiot lights and the overdrive. The van starts and runs good. The first thing I did was check the gauge fuse it was good but I changed it anyway. I have been chasing down the problem with the electrical wiring book but that is not the clearest thing to follow. I just looked through the forums and didn't see any similar problem but I did see a very useful "how to remove the dash"
Does anyone have any helpful ideas?

Thanks, Rick

Hi & Welcome to TVT! :wave2: Check the battery fuse box that's discussed in THIS THREAD (http://www.toyotavantech.com/forum/showthread.php?157-Battery-Fuse-Box). Pay particular attention to the AM2 fuse base & conductors/connectors under it. You should be able to verify this has something to do with it by wiggling & bumping this fuse box while somebody is inside the van watching for the problem to occur. If it starts going crazy when you mess with this box, then that's probably it. Tim

PS: Here's another thread that shows what you're likely to find inside this fuse box if you take it apart: http://www.toyotavantech.com/forum/showthread.php?395-Intermittent-Starting-Problems-amp-Check-Engine-Light!!!-91-Previa-LE-AWD

Long story short, after finding the J4 connector and confirming I had power to the combination meter and reading the post how to remover the dashboard.
http://www.toyotavantech.com/forum/showthread.php?63-How-to-Remove-the-Dashboard&highlight=combination+meter

I found a pushed pin on the combination meter reinstalled it made sure it locked and checks good.
Man I hate electrical problems.

Thanks for the help.

That dash removal post is for a 1st generation van (not Previa). These are so different I'm surprised it helped.............but I'm glad it did. Like my old man used to say "you can't argue with success". Tim
