Decided to let the dealer replace my flexible couplings (and oil pump cover plate O-ring and Seal).
No probs with PS before, now have to use brute force at low RPM (risky/dangerous)? Only noticeable diffs with PS is; no longer get the very slight squeal when doing sharp turns at low RPM (would appear belt is tighter) and the idle RPM is set higher (would guess about 800 before and 900 now). Inquiry to dealer indicated there should be no change to PS. After reading the TSB referred to in an earlier forum thread, I assume the only way the PS (and other components) would not be in the mix, would be if the front portion of the shaft (beyond the front flexible coupling were not removed? Is this possible? Any suggestions to remedy the PS problem at this point? The dealer indicated to bring it back for a fluid flush out and replace for $100+. Tire inflation is ok, belt tension appears ok or too tight? Fluid level ok (fluid in reservoir appears new/clear?). Wheel alignment is ok. There was no noticeable problem with PS prior to
work. 1993 Previa, 2wd, 273000+ miles, auto, LE. Had to use the aftermarket flexible couplings rather than switch to a 1994+ accessory shaft and then use Toyota brand.
Thanks, Choz.
