So I've decided to put some Lucas stuff in my differential.

Does anyone know the size of the drain and filler plugs?

I dont have anything pass 19mm. (my small tool chest was stolen a couple years ago and so with all my tools)

Thanks

Get a 6 point 24 mm wrench. Be careful, they round off EASILY!

Thanks. I was planning on working on it tonight and wanted to know exactly what I needed.

just use a 24mm socket and 18" ratchet :D

Here's a quote from a thread about the vans, but the same applies to the Previas. Tim

It's 24mm metric but 15/16" SAE fits it nicely too. You should use a 6 point socket as there isn't much surface area here. It's common for these to round-off so be careful. I'm sure they make special sockets for this, but I use a 6 point 15/16" socket that I ground down on a disc grinder. I removed some of the open side to get rid of the interior chamfer (this provides more surface area between the socket and plug). That socket fits nice and tight and I don't need to worry about it slipping and rounding the plug. BTW, this is the same size used on the fill plug too. The front differential (for you 4wd owners), manual transmissions & transfer cases use this same plug size. Broached sockets (relieved areas between sides of hex, like the one below) are also preferred as they are less likely to round off the plug. Tim

Thanks guys, I did this the other day.

I couldn't find a 24mm 6 point, but I was able to find a 15/16 that did the trick.

@TheMan, you were not kidding about 18" breaker....

I actually like the 15/16" size a little better. Due to lack of surface area on these plugs, it helps to find something that grips tight. There's not much difference, but 15/16" is just slightly smaller than 24 mm (just make sure it's engaging completely before putting torque to it). Tim

24 mm = .9449"
15/16" = .9375"

Again, thanks Tim and TheMan. You guys are always on point.

You realize Lucas is snake oil right?
You should google that if you didn't know

That I didn't know. I bought it based on my past experience with their diff oil in my 240sx, rx7, cressida and m30 and never had issues.

But again, why take a chance right? Looks like I'll be going under this weekend again!

I guess I will consider this a "flush".
