Eventually, I will need to rebuilt my supercharger down the road.
So I decided to go out and pull a supercharger from a local junkyard and learn the process of the removal and possible installation of the supercharger itself.
Well, let me just say that it was SUPER HARD - It took me 6 hours just to remove it!!!
Basically, in order to gain access and have room to work the supercharger. You need to do the following:
Remove:
radiator
Cooling fan
Fan Shround
Front Air Intake Assembly
Throtle Body
All associated hoses connected to air intake and supercharger
Once you removed all of these items, you will gain a clear view of the supercharger.
I tried and tried to remove just the supercharger out of the SADS housing and NOTHING would make this bad boy disconnect or drop from the housing
So at my fifth hour, I decided to remove the entire SADS Housing / I disconnected the front end of the SADS bushing and shaft and pulled this MONSTER out :)
Basically, I just removed the Alternator and powersteering pump.
Pulled the supercharger and AC Compressor attached to the SADS Housing and called it a day / thing weight about 140lbs +
So my question is, do you know of a better way to pull the supercharger unit by itself rather than pulling the entire housing?
Pictures are in chronological order
1st pic is for the first 2 hours / removing all the stuff to gain access to the supercharger
2nd Pic is of the supercharger unit itself after all hoses are detached and how it seats and my attempts to remove it (another 2 hours)
3rd pic is of the SADS Housing containing the Supercharger, pulley and AC Compressor after removal (2 hours) victory at last!
