I had replaced a bad blower motor last summer when it quit working on low then finally high as well. Also replaced the board that controls the high to low settings behind the motor. It has been fine until last week when the motor quit working on low again , and now it emits a bad electrical burnt smell when running on high. I just uncovered the blower motor which seems fine but does seem not seem to be turning as freely as I think it should , I'll also check the resistor board behind the blower as well. Any tips appreciated thanks 93 previa 290,000.... 6 months on JPM motor and all is well.

just puller the board out behind the blower motor the ceremic block was cracked and one solder point broken. I resoldered it and now all the blower setting high to low work and electric burnt smell gone :) RESOLDERING fixed the low setting not working but two days later I had to replace the entire unit once the cracked ceramic block split in two. That was what caused the burning smell. New unit was 35 through parts geek.

FYI make sure , if you replace the resistor board behind the motor, you have it installed with a little lock tite. I believe that my OEM and the second one I replaced became compromised due to coming loose and banging around.

To access this
1.I removed the air intake for heating/cooling.... 4 Phillips screws with washers attached , the cowling wraps around the hood latch and exposes the blower fan once removed.
2. Removed cover on bottom of fan by:
there is a short 10mm bolt on passenger side attaching bracket to fan cover.... do not drop the bolt I used a 10 inch extension
3. Two 12 mm bolts holding on fluid res for brakes used extension as well. Let fluid res drop out of way. Dont drop bolts
4. There are two Phillips on the bottom back of the fan cover a little hard to reach and see on pass side..... not so bad on drivers side, then two Phillips ,I believe, at the front these... all 4 point to the sky so you need a stubby to get in there. One Phillips center front with a locator for the cover next to it. The speed control / resistor unit is behind the fan , two Phillips?, down and to the left which you can see once you remove the bottom fan cover .....sliding it out on the fluid res/drivers side. Took me 30 min to replace. Same process to replace fan blower motor.
