The plastic bumpers and side cladding on my '92 are showing their age, with light streaks running through them.
What are people using to address this?
i first thought of using trim paint, like SEM. Then I thought about PlastiDip.
Or is there some other product, like a dye?
I'd like to keep the color close to stock, as my van is silver. I don't want them to be black for sure, but a little darker grey would be ok.

Permashine works wonders. I didnt paint them as I too prefered the original look. The auto paint supply houses sell a similar type of bumper and clad coatings but I liked the real "permashine" brand. It really brings back the shine. And permanantly. I wish I had used it 20 years ago! Of course, if the plastic is really burnt and discolored, it will enhance that faded look as well, so I really worked on removing allot of that faded buildup before I used the permashine. Boy was that a job. Or one can just find better looking bumpers and/or cladding before appying the permashine.

Will Permashine reduce or remove the streakiness, making the coloring more even?

I Really needed to scrub off build up of grime and wax&soap build up. White zebra streaks needed to be rubbed off with various scrubbers (whatever works?). I found permashine doesnt really do much but cover it and it bleeds through then you have to fight permashine off to get rid of streaks. Find some nice replacements if yours are too far gone or too hard to clean off. But it is a great product. After I did mine I found myself coating my FJ before damage and fading and boy did it make a difference. Highly recommended on new vehicles.

Ok. I will scrub them first.
