The fuel gauge on my new-to-us Previa isn't working properly. It appears to read a bit high.

When end we bought it, the gauge was near full. After driving it about 200 miles or so, it was dipping a little below half.

But the low fuel light would come on.

The wife filled it up today, as it was running a little ragged. Took 20 gallons. Ran fine after.

Clearly the the gauge is off. She would like it to work properly.

Is is this a common issue with a known fix?

Somebody probably had the cluster out for repairs & removed the needle, then re-installed in the incorrect location. Since the low level warning light still works, I'd probably wait for that to come on, then pull the cluster, carefully pull the needle off (without twisting), then carefully position to "empty" and push back on. For information on how to remove the cluster check this thread: http://www.toyotavantech.com/forum/showthread.php?145-How-to-disassemble-the-dash-on-a-Previa

Thanks. The needle is pinned high when it's full, so I think you have the answer.
