Hey guys I just wanted to let you know that I put collector car insurance on my Town Ace. I previously had Geico, but I knew if something major happened they would short me on my van's value. So I went with Hagerty insurance with an agreed upon value of $16k. Such a load off of my chest. It wasn't cheap though...about $450 for the year, but if my van ever gets stolen or totaled I will be OK.

I use Geico for my 3 other cars (for now) and AAA Collector Car insurance for my 1970 Subaru.

1970 SUBARU!?!? 360 or FF-1? I have a 1971 FF-1.

Wow nice you have an FF-1. You must know Jamie (SubieGal). I have a restored 1970 Subaru 360 van.

I finally met her and her husband a couple months ago at a show but they had decided to just bring the three 360's so I have yet to see their FF-1 in person. They actually tried to buy my FF-1 about fifteen years ago when my wife accidentally posted it on craigslist.

I almost bought her FF-1 from the previous owner. I'm sure you know the story of how the guy restored it, then found out there was a hole in the block. He was selling it pretty cheap and I was talking to my fiance about getting the money when Jamie bought it. Afterwards I was pretty relieved seeing what she had to go through to find a new block.

have a restored 1970 Subaru 360 van.
Did you ever have it at JCCS?

Was A A A not agreeable to value?

Mercury now has to value my Datsun 510 what it's worth after what they paid to fix it.
I would avoid them.

No I didn't bring my Subi to JCCS, but I know the owners of the two vans that were there. Mine is a bit nicer than those. AAA will not do agreed value...they use NADA value. Which is stupid because they say my bucket 1965 Ford Cortina is worth $27k even beat up, but my fully restored Subi is only worth $9k. Whatever. Hagerty was awesome. I told them I was DDing my TownAce and they said I shouldn't do that, but still approved my application.

Some coverage limits mileage.

Justified when driving to a show

I haven't made the jump to Haggerty yet, but I will when mine is closer to completion. I've used JC Taylor for years, but they don't cover vans in any form.

Haggerty was way more expensive than what I pay for my other collector cars with JC, but I may go that route in the future.
