rear wheel bearing has been grinding for over a year and cant get it out. i just took it to a mechanic and he broke every tool he had trying to get it out. I think i might chain the axle to my truck and yank on it. thats the best idea i have at this point. HELP!

iv replaced rear bearings on a chevy where i removed both axles, got a piece of rebar long enough to reach the other side of the axle and hit the bearing from the inside pushing the bearing out.

there might be a plate holding the axle and seal onto the axle housing you must remove the caliper and rotor to find out. toyotaparts has a diagram to use as a reference.

Thanks for the above suggestions. As far as pounding some rebar through, it doesnt work that way. The axle would not come out so there is no where to send it through. The axle and bearing come out together. As far as a slide hammer, i destroyed one and so did my mechanic. i finally got it out by taking an oxy acetalene torch and carfully cutting out the bearings until it was weak enough to yank out. then i cut the outer race with the torch. i did manage to bend the axle though by yanking on it with my truck so i am looking for one if some one has a super charged alltrac axle around ill take it. i also had to cut the backing plate in half so i could get into the bearing with the torch. so it is out. just need an axle.
