Power steering hose failure

My first mechanical issue has occurred.
Busted hose.
the rest of the power steering line underneath the van looks to be metal tubing, Lets hope.
I had to remove one (what I will call air shroud) metal bracket with plastic fin, reminded me of a mud flap.
Un-bolt the front, horizontal laid radiator, I think is for the A/C, It wouldn't come all the way off, the brackets where holding it up in place, but un-bolting gave me enough room to fit hands between it and the front cross member, towards the rear of the rad.

I'm guessing any high pressure hose from O'Reillys will work.

I got the new hose installed last night, went to O'Reillies and got 3/8" high pressure hose and new clamps.

Re-filled with AFT, but now the pump is making a lot of noise/whining when turning. I thought I just needed to work the fluid back through the pump and hoses but its still rather louder then normal. Its turning just fine tho.

I only drove it on 0- power steering fluid for like 5 mins. I sure would hope that wouldn't burn up the pump that quick.

removing the P.S. reservoir and cleaning the screen did the trick.
I however am not patient and do not have the needed finesse to bend the metal tabs to get the screen out. So I went another route.....

A solvent of sorts, and air hose.

Didn't have mineral water or other cleaners mentioned in that other helpful thread, I had that seafoam laying around and since its good for everything, I tried it.

With the metal mesh screen inside the P.S. reservoir blocked up with junk and not wanting to bend the metal clips to remove the top off the reservoir to get the screen out, I opted to use a solvent to ‘clean’ the junk from the screen, knowing the sea foam would not completely rid the junk from off the screen I hoped it would make it soft or loose enough to use the air hose to blow it off and out.
I poured the liquid in the reservoir blocked the in port and out port with fingers, threaded on the cap and shook violently. I then poured out the sea foam and inserted the air hose in the lower out port, forcing air through the bottom of the screen and out through the cap opening, best to point away from face better yet, also wear safety glasses.
I repeated that until I was out of solvent. (Twice, my bottle was half empty)
I blocked the in and out ports again added ATF shook around hoping to get any left over sea foam or extra debri out and used the air hose again to blow out the reservoir.

I could see a visible difference in the screen.

I hope those steps make sense. :wnk:
