Do we know if torsion bars are compatible among 2wd to 4wd and differing years? quick search gives different part numbers for left and right on an '87 but no mention of 4wd or 2wd...im thinking it would be horrible to snap a bar in the bush and would like to carry a spare, preferably just one, i wonder what the difference between left and right would be...

heres 2 torsion bars from an 88 4x4 auto cargo conversion van. the painted blocks mounting forward, there is also a paint mark on the end of the front. this number looks to be different from the numbers i was able to bring up on toyotapartsdeal.com...i think the 4x4s must have a higher spring rate. theres a spiral visable in the surface like they are 'wound' during manufacture, assuming for the left and right positioning...

Any chance y'all know the length of the torsion bars? I'm wondering if the 4-runner or T100 torsion bars would work. There are more aftermarket options for those. I have a 93 TownAce and it uses the exact same P/N as the late 80's 4x4 van wagons.

Found it: https://www.toyotavantech.com/forum/showthread.php?2173-4-runner-torsion-bar-MOD&highlight=4runner

Also as far as the 4x4 van torsion bars, I found these if you need replacements: https://www.megazip.net/zapchasti-dlya-avtomobilej/toyota/lite-townace-42457/cr31-55067/cr31g-mdzx-911562/front-spring-shock-absorber-17741957#/il-411428831-4460488-4460488

I need both 48161-28040 (Rh) and 48162-28040 (Lh) for my van but I'm considering modding for the 4runner springs.
