Posting this so you don't have to go through the trouble I did.

Only a screwdriver is required to remove the SRS module cover. The first two screws are placed obviously on each side of the cover, but there other two are located on top at the very back of it (photo_1) (https://www.toyotanation.com/cdn-cgi/image/format=auto,onerror=redirect,width=1920,height=192 0,fit=scale-down/https://www.toyotanation.com/attachments/photo_1-jpg.451229/). You'll have to peel away the felt fabric on top. I recommend prying the plastic screw covers off from the side of each since that's where the grab arms are (photo_2) (https://www.toyotanation.com/cdn-cgi/image/format=auto,onerror=redirect,width=1920,height=192 0,fit=scale-down/https://www.toyotanation.com/attachments/photo_2-jpg.451228/). If the cover doesn't come off easily because the lip of your screws is stuck under the plastic a bit like mine were (photo_3) (https://www.toyotanation.com/cdn-cgi/image/format=auto,onerror=redirect,width=1920,height=192 0,fit=scale-down/https://www.toyotanation.com/attachments/photo_3-jpg.451226/), gently pry the screw away from the lip in which it's caught. Underneath the cover, it looks like this (photo_4) (https://www.toyotanation.com/cdn-cgi/image/format=auto,onerror=redirect,width=1920,height=192 0,fit=scale-down/https://www.toyotanation.com/attachments/photo_4-jpg.451227/) and reveals the SRS module (part 89170-0W010 or 89170-28030).

Working in the dark, I couldn't see the top plastic screw covers, and I didn't know that's where the last two phillips screws were - so I ended up forcing my socket wrench underneath enough to remove the 12mm metal bracket bolts you can see in photo_4. Now you can avoid the trouble I went through for something so simple.

nice post. has anyone installed this in a 91 (no SRS)? was it straightforward?
i imagine i would need to get the brackets that the SRS module mounts to. did the 91 get weldnuts in the floor to attach them to?

since there is no SRS and no tray, the floor of my van in the middle is just smooth like a ken doll except for a tiny bump that doesn't do anything!

so if you turn right all your favorite toys roll over from the other footwell and try to help you use the pedals, but i already know how to use the pedals so i don't want that do i no no no thanks

i need a special tray to fill in the empty in between valley of nothing in the down there area of my van

here is what happens when you and 4 of your friends hit the gas and turn left on a real snowy day :silvervan::redvan::yellowvan::greenvan::bluevan:

Back in the day (2019), there was a Yahoo! Previa group where this issue came up and after a reveal that there were no holes of any kind on the floor of a '91, the consensus was to look into "Rivnuts" which insert through holes like rivets (with a tool) to provide threads for bolts. That obviously brings up the concern of what one might drill into beneath during the install process. Sheet metal screws were mentioned as an obvious alternative, but no one came up with a quick and easy solution.

Well, there's always this stuff. Fabricate some thin-ish sheet metal rectangles to attach to the inside of the storage bin (where the screw holes are already if that's doable) such that they stick down further than the bottom. Cut slots in the carpet for them to go through (just inside the edge of the bin sides), then pull up that section of carpet, feed the "tabs" through, bend them out at 90 degrees, place tape sticky-side-down over and beyond their edges, then put everything back down and press on the carpet around the bin to press the tape-n-tabs to the metal floor.
