Good day friends,
As the title suggests, I've just secured a donor '96 all-trac Previa, auto, 2TZ-FZE for $500 (in this economy!) While my '92 is no prize to look at, it's unsurprisingly quite a bit better than this cheap donor I found. So, in short, my '92 is a manual, all-trac, 2TZ-FE. I'm wondering what all I will need to bring from the '96 if I bring the motor. In theory would I be able to bolt the manual trans right on, and keep my driveshafts and diffs? I know the gearing of the diffs varies between these two engines, but are they still compatible? Otherwise is it just an engine and ECU swap? While I have the motor out, I'm planning to do a full rebuild and, if needed, take it to a machine shop to bore over by .020. Is there anything I'm missing here? Is the manual trans robust enough to handle the power output of the supercharged version? Obviously I'm not expecting this process to go perfectly, but it would be really fun to have a fresh, more powerful motor since I commute over Teton Pass (sustained 10% grades) daily. Any other unforeseen issues I may encounter would be great to hear about!
Thanks guys!
