View Full Version : Rapid loss of power

94 Naturally aspirated, pulling up a long canyon, lost power rapidly over about 5 minutes or so. Almost felt like it ground to halt. Had it towed home. Motor starts and runs fine at idle and revs fine, but with a load on it, won't pull and will stall (manual transmission). This van has low range and it will pull a hill in 1st gear low, but not roadworthy.
If it could be something simple I could, put a little time into it, but (long story), would be better for me to move on from this. If a simple fix means someone can drive it away rather than trailer it... would be good. Already listed it for sale locally.

Since no one's commenting, I'll put my hand up from the Peanut Gallery and suggest...fuel pump failing? That seems the most obvious.
Were there any weird/troubling things that you noticed beforehand?

Sounds to me like a clogged catalytic converter.

Thanks guys, I'll pass it on to the new owner, an intrepid enthusiast who wants to put it back into tiptop shape!
Thus ends my era as a Previa guy. A little sad, it's been a rewarding and worthwhile pursuit, but today energy is going into converting my 2006 Sprinter into 4X4...

See you on the T1N forum!
Yes indeed.
Might post a pic or two of the $X$ (LOL, holding the shift/caps key is kind of real... err...) 4x4 conversion on MWD's thread.
