As we all know, Previa headlights, well, suck. There have been various fixes proposed over the years, all of which can be found in the various Previa archives. People on the Farcebook page really get into some laborious "fixes" but that format is so dysfunctional I never use it, plus I'm not much into labor.

Anyway I just thought I'd start a new headlight thread as we head into the 2nd quarter of the 21st century, as things are bound to get better.

I tried Auxbeam LEDs 4 years ago but didn't like them primarily because I thought they were too bright, and had dead spots. I replaced them with Hikari Eye of Megatron, which were pretty bright but also scattered, but they worked pretty good and surprisingly, nobody flashed me. Lately, after about 4 years and a front end collision, they seemed dimmer even after a lens polishing so I did some searching.

I liked what I read about this Fantali, esp what I bolded

FANTELI 9003 led bulb adopts the all-in-one mini size design, with non-polarity plugs, no additional adapters required, let you stay away from all kinds of installation problems. Plug and play, no modification required.

Perfect & Comprehensive Beam Pattern - The h4 bulb uses a 1:1 halogen beam design and ultra-thin chip copper plate to ensure 360° illumination without black spots. Won't blind oncoming traffic and drivers, safer for you to driving at different situation.

At only 19.99 pair, I figured it was worth a try.

They arrived tonight and I must say I'm happy, so far. There are no dead spots. They don't spray light all over the treetops. They have a very good bright focus on the road ahead, after some fiddling. They really do have a perfect beam pattern! I could not find any traffic to see if anyone would flash me, but I really doubt they will.

Still, there are a couple issues and I'd like to fix at least the first one.

1) the beams really light up just a bit closer to the van than I'd prefer. Maybe its the lights, maybe its the accident, maybe its both. If I can get them shining a bit farther ahead, I will be incredibly satisfied. That's important because of #2

2) like all LEDs I have tried, even with various decoders and such, there are no hi/lo beams. What you get is what you get. If I hit the brights, they actually dim ever so slightly (only noticeable in the far distance) and the only way to get them back is to turn the lights completely off and then back on again.

Still, I give them 3 out of 4 stars for now and if I can fix the distance issue without blinding people they will be a solid 4 stars, even without brights.
