Have had two instances this week where the van didnt start (crank strong, just didn't fire), then after coming back to it later it starts fine. This second time it took longer, so I started looking at issues, relays, fuses, etc. Jumped the fuel pump check connector and didn't hear anything except the relay click - so I figured the fuel pump was bad. Went inside and ate lunch, came out, and jumped it again except this time, I heard fuel, so I turned the ignition and the van started right up. So I'm wondering, is it a bad fuel pump that is sometimes quitting on me (or a bad connection in there) or is this the heat soak issue? I've read a couple pages on it, and considering both times this happened I left the seat up while messing with it and thus the engine was able to vent and cool off I realize that might be a possibility. If the fuel rail was filled with vapor, would the fuel pump not make noise when jumpered? If its a bad fuel pump I'd rather get it fixed before it fails the rest of the way though. If its the heat soak issue, then where's the best place to mount an extra fan?
