Hello All,

We recently acquired a 91' Previa & have noticed the Battery terminals are heavily corroded. The battery is stamped 2024, so its not that old (though may be of poor quality, e.i Walmart). Given the age of the van, the cables/connections are likely due for a replacement? I am curious to know if anyone has replaced these before & if could share any info unto how-to do so. Especially the lengths (in/mm) of the given cables & their grounding points upon the frame &/or mechanical operatives.

Thanks! :wave2:

I don't remember the lengths, but I will say, you should check the condition of the fuse box attached to the positive cable while you're in there. They can get very corroded beneath the plastic, where the wires bolt up. When it happens, it can cause a no start.

On my van, I replaced the cables a long time ago. I brought the old ones in to the store to measure up. For the ends on the battery, I have gold plated quick connecting ends, and I love them. The cables with the small eye on them bolt up perfectly to the ends, and I find they're super easy to secure to the terminals. They use a lock similar to a bike wheel quick connect, so no tools to disconnect a cable anytime I need to.

That's Good to Know! I noticed the little fuse box & thought that it was an odd placement, having never seen one directly attached to the terminal before. I've not gotten into the box yet, though I will soon. I've been trying to acquire factory manuals & such for information on these vans, since there isn't much out there online. The factory terminal ends are a bear to get off; a style more like what you are talking about would be helpful for future maintenance! I certainly don't want to have any electrical issues arise.

If you do ever need a new fuse terminal, message me. I have tons of them, I clean up the bad ones that are still salvageable and keep them around. Previas still show up in junkyards around here, so I often grab them.
