I know this was discussed a bit on the throttle body thread, but I need some more specific advice concerning the device itself and not so much concerning the throttle body, and didn't want the hijack that thread.
Is it necessary to have it installed to pass CA smog? :cnfsd:Mine is spotty at best, but I don't want to remove it only to fail smog.... my idle after the rig has warmed up gets up a bit and I have traced it to the crummy old dashpot.
Ideas?
I don't have any specific numbers on this, but I don't think it would affect the test. It's function only comes into play during the transition between cruise & idle. I believe they only test emissions once idle and cruise have been established. If you have any doubts, save it. It's not difficult to put back on if need be. Tim
It makes sense. My worry is, (knowing the strangeness of California smog laws) they will fail me on a visual. Do they even look for that kind of stuff? Or is it mainly the big points they hit when doing a visual? :confused:
I wish the dashpot was still available from toyota... I know everyone says to just yank it, but I like having the OE stuff all there when I lift the seat. It just feels right. :LOL2:
I'm thinking they wouldn't have a clue. Probably wouldn't even figure out how to open the hood. Tim
