Sliding Door Window Fasteners Issues
I'm wondering if anyone has any secret knowledge for me or if I'm just boned. I have a 95' I bought cheap and am fixing all the little bits and making it nice, found the sliding door window was torn from the door at the upper fastener. It had torn a hole in the sheet metal and the screw on the window as well as the nut behind the sheet metal had been torn through. I cut a plate to fender it into place, but when i started turning the nut, the bolt shaft broke free from the window and now spins free. This is killing me. I'm going to put a bumper in the window in hopes it stops the rattle...
Am I just screwed and up for a pick and pull new door?

if it's that messed up, get a new door
pics will help us give you a better assessment
Re: Sliding Door Window Fasteners Issues
I am with the man, sounds like a new door could be in place.
I was just at the junk yard deconstructing a sliding door and getting some parts. Maybe this video will help you. I video taped the hinge stuff for reference.

Re: Sliding Door Window Fasteners Issues
Thanks guys! I did carefully get that nut torqued a bit tighter and the window closes correctly and seems to be sealed and doesn't rattle, but it might be time to get a door. I'm going to make a journey to the local pick and pull in a month as they seem to have like four previas on site. Thanks for being awesome and I'm falling in love with my egg.
I got the nut torqued by taking off the back side of the window and tilting it enough to get access to the bolt with needlenose pliers. Not perfect but better than nothing.
Re: Sliding Door Window Fasteners Issues
Hey Tim, I got the same issue with the upper bolt of the sliding door. It spins freely so I'm thinking it may have detached from the window. If so what would be the appropriate glue to reattach it to the glass? I assume it was originally glued to the glass. Thanks LARRY

I don't know as I haven't had to mess around in this area yet (knock on wood). Tim
