Oil leak / Possible Oil Pump?

Guys,
Quick question, what is the longevity of a supercharged Previa Oil pump?
I developed an oil leak (about a quarter size) about 2 months ago
Initially I thought it was an O ring from the front of the engine where it connects to the SADS shaft
My mechanic said that it was the Crank shaft seal/ oil pump gasket
He recommends the following
Oil Pump
Oil pump gasket
Crankshaft seal
Oil Filter gasket
Valve Cover Gasket.

I'm not sure if I in deed require an oil pump change as I never had an oil pump change on any of my toyotas.
Sounds severe.

It sounds from here that all you'd need to replace is the crank seal, which is in the oil pump housing cover.

Unless ss it's the oil pump cover that's leaking.

Why why is he suggesting oil pump replacement? Do you have an oil flow problem, or does your mechanic have a boat paymet due?? He sets to be taking a shot gun approach, wanting to change everything that could be the leak.

I'd break out the Simple Green, clean the hell out of the front of the motor, and properly locate the source of the leak.

To do that crankshaft seal you suspect, it's remove SADS shaft, take off the crank "pulley," and the seal is right there. If it's the oil pump housing seal, it's just a few more bolts.

Oil pumps don't typically wear out, but it is possible.

Agreed. Isolate the source of the leak before you dive in. The main crank seal is conventional, but the cover is a pain to remove, especially if the engine is still in the van.
If you have to take off the oil pump cover, use a hand impact driver using a JIS bit that fits the screws. If you try to use a Phillips bit, your chances of getting all of the screws out (eleven, I think) without buggering at least one of them are slim.
I've only taken a Previa oil pump cover off of an engine that is out of the car, with the front cover removed from the engine and laying on a solid slab so that I can get the driver lined up straight before I whack it. I've not taken one off that still in the car. I won't say it can't be done. Anyone out there who has managed it?
The seal under the cover is a funny shaped O-ring that you can get from Toyota for a few bucks.
Oh, and none of the pumps I've had apart had any appreciable wear.
