1987 Tail light wire harness *help*
My righthand side tail-light running lights were not working. Pulled out the tail-light and noticed one connector was broken and another was corroded. Seems like I need a new wiring harness. Toyota part #8155528020 is discontinued. I tried buying Dorman part #645-554 but the female connector is different and the bulb sockets don't fit the tail light.
Nothing on ebay. Anyone have suggestions or dealt with this before? Is pick and pull my only option?

I have seen tail light assemblies on ebay. You may have to buy a tail light assembly just to get the wire which is not bad then you have a spare. If you have an LE this should work or you could just use the sockets from the harness

Thanks for the tip JPERL. I'll keep digging

I have a set of older toy pickup tail lights and a spare van tail light. I'll see if the sockets interchange. Not home at the moment, but will be later today. I'm guessing its a direct fit though as many things believe it or not do interchange like that.
Will post back in a while.

Let me know now what you find out!

Sorry about that, forgot about this!!!
Anyways, the pickup trucks set isnt a sealed unit and the bulb sockets are completey different unfortunately.
HOWEVER, these look like they might be retrofitted into your existing.

If you go the route above, my opinion would be to take the Dremel tool to the pigtail and NOT your tail light housing in case you find a complete pigtail assembly that is an oem fit at some point.
:)

JB weld. You'll be back on the road is 30 minutes with the newly-repaired part stronger than the original. For the corroded part, Just steel wool the corroded part then coat with dielectric grease on reassembly
