Part Lookup - Amayana Questions
Hi all,
I am trying to source lower ball joints for my 89' Toyota Masterace van. I am using Amayana part lookup and found a few options but am confused a bit.
What is the difference between genuine Toyota, original replacements, and non-original replacements? I've been told for ball joints to just buy Toyota parts so I guess I'll just fork over the money and go with the Genuine Toyota option. But what is a original replacement then?

Thanks!
Re: Part Lookup - Amayana Questions
"Original Replacements" should also mean "Genuine Toyota" (or Genuine "whichever manufacturer Toyota was using at the time"). When I click on a "Original Replacement" product, it brings me to a "Genuine Toyota" product.
I think that one from Japan is $50 just because sometimes stuff from Japan is expensive. (But I don't know for sure.)
Is your van 4wd? The 4wd vans have a left side lower ball joint and a right side lower balljoint that are mirror images of each other (so you need one of each different type). The 2wd van lower ball joints are the same on the left and right (interchangeable).
ALSO, the suspensions on the 1989 Aces and the US Toyota Vans are the same (at least as far as the arms and ball joints are concerned), so you could also look into US part sources for those.
Re: Part Lookup - Amayana Questions
Gotcha. My van is a 4wd.. I do see there being a left and a right side. The PDF I attached is just for one side. Thanks for the tip though.
And oh you are right about clicking on the "original replacements" and then it does still say "Genuine Toyota" after it opens up the next page. Hm maybe I will go with the "original replacement" for $15 a side and half the shipping. Ships from United Arab Emirates.
