The WHAT-IS-THIS-PART and WHAT'S-THE-PART-NUMBER Thread for US Toyota Vans 1984-1989
i saw this pic and tried to compare it from my van, and i think some parts of my van is missing, can someone tell me where do the these (orange arrows) tubes go?... and what is this (red arrow) square? thanks
unknown button for me, help...
-on the driver's side (door armrest), we have the master switch for the power windows and the power locks, mine has a missing button, between the power lock switch and power window switch, what is it for?
Re: unknown button for me, help...
I believe that button is to disable the passenger side lock/window controls (I could be wrong). That particular button in my van is missing as well, but the PO had soldered a bridge between that circuit so that the passenger side works.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong. :)
Re: unknown button for me, help...
-mine is just a hole but with no solder to bridge, the passenger side power window still works... what could it be?
Re: unknown button for me, help...
I looked into it and checked the owners manual. :LOL2:
1986 Toyota Van Owners Manual (I don't imagine it would be too different from an '89 manual.)
Page 51
"When the "P/W LOCK" switch is pushed in or the "WINDOW" switch is in the "LOCK" position, none of the windows, except the driver's window, can be raised or lowered."
You can view the manual here. Hope that helps. :dance2:
Re: unknown button for me, help...
-thank you very much sir, now i know, i'll try to restore that switch back...thanks again... :)

Blue plug under passenger side dash?
Hi all,
I'm Josh, I have an '86 2wd TV that was given to me after I brought it back to life. It's running pretty doggone well right now with the exception of some cold start issues that I'm going to troubleshoot this weekend.
Unrelated to that -I think- is this thing that I found under the passenger side front dash today (see attachment). It's a blue connector, at least three fairly large-gauge blue wires on one side, several other wires of varying gauge and color, too. Before I start scouring the service manual, anyone have any idea to what this is supposed to connect? Some accessory that I don't have? As far as I can tell, everything in the van works okay.
Thanks in advance!
Josh
Re: Blue plug under passenger side dash?
I'm pretty sure that's your Passenger side door harness. The wires it holds are for power windows, power locks, and the little red courtesy light in the door panel (none of which would work with that thing unplugged). Another possibility is the doors were replaced with non-powered ones and the harness is left over??? Tim
Re: Blue plug under passenger side dash?
Well- the van has manual windows and no power locks, but I'm fairly certain that the doors haven't been swapped. I don't know, anything's possible, but the interior trim panels are the same, the locks are the same, everything looks pretty original.
I'll do a little investigating tomorrow and see what can be seen. I'll write down the wire colors and look at the FSM to see what can be deduced.
Thanks!
Josh
Re: Blue plug under passenger side dash?
Why, its the HISTORY ERASER HARNESS!! what ever you do don't jumper the 2 main wires!! lol
Re: Blue plug under passenger side dash?
Tim is correct, it is the plug for all the powered goodies in the door.
Re: Blue plug under passenger side dash?
so, If one were to find power everything front doors they would plug right in? that would be kinda cool....
