Good luck with the ez outs!, never had much luck with them in small bolts. drill 3.2mm then 5. Re run 2nd tap through carefully as the thread left breaks up, usually works good.

m6 x 1 is standard, 12.9 would be ok grades for steel. I think 10.9 is about T standard . they seem to last better underneath if partially smothered in sealant. Why Toyota used so many weak m6 hex...

exhaust leak noise normally a high pitched repetative chirp like a small bird. turbo dying sounded exactly like a police siren going up and down in pitch with the accel/decel, they go in many ways i...
did you have the work done? how is the van, did they re-skim the manifold when fitting a gasket?.
do they still want to have it after working on it  ?
careful with your oil pressure when you bolt it back up.
if it does not purge properly when you have re-assembled, you can quickly eat the turbo bearing.
When you re-start after all the work, fill...
i just did a reasonable amount of miles on tour over the past two weeks (1973 miles) in a wide range of environments, wet , warm, cold, up and down some often large hills up to about 4000ft and...
let me know how you get on when you do. i still need investigate the check valve fitting behind the starter but i will not do that until next oil change
it does not take long to take off the top and middle cam belt covers, examine your cam belt. you do not have to take off the crank pulley to check the crank timing , you can check it by following...
may just be a bad contact where the black/yellow cable meets the oil pressure sensor its a plastic slide fitting, slide it off, and clean it up with a soft wire brush and something for cleaning...
mine does this when its cold for up to 5-6 seconds before going out (diesel van) 10w40 oil, new oil pump, clean sump.
but go's out very quick if the engine is starting at normal running temperature.
i think i found out why i had no oil pressure that time.....
It seems, the oil pump does not prime when the system is emptied or bled in some way shape or form.
2nd experience of the same...
My van was brought with the egr allready blanked, someone put alluminium gaskets both ends of the pipe, but left the pipe intact. In the inlet manifold when i removed it was coated in a thick tar...
some of the smaller heater coolant pipes in my van have been replaced with copper. i will post up some images in a couple days.
you can also use copper elbows / straights and rubber hose together to...
that is the breather yes.
have you checked the crank case breather, hose from rocker to inlet pipe about 5/8" dia - 45 elbow,if its kinked/blocked it will smoke alot.
I get smoke on start if its been standing a few days...
I agree with that, it makes sense. There are quite a few 'blanks' in the manual.
wow.. excellent shot
here you go this is where i lined mine up with cam and diesel pump. its possible there is a divot on the actual crank pulley. shown here is the accessory belt pulley. the inside edge has a tiny...
HI matt i have conflicting information for you  .

I like to post up my experiences with an oil pressure problem i had recently.

hi matt, just got back , i'll scan the pages relating to turbo and mail them over. if you mail an address.
just a thought, if its overboosting I doubt you will have to replace the turbo only the...
excellent info. Mine is slightly sick, off to the main dealer for diagnosis. I will Add some about brakes when I get it back.
any update on this? mine just started making very similar noises at low speeds. Funny thing is, all I did today was jacked up the front end and cleaned off some oil from a leak. Shorted / broke a...
I can measure any part of my rears if that helps, i'll be pulling them off again this week to replace the cylinders at rear. 90 2ct 4wd
I just brought some cylinders and they were 7/8 which is...
is your van 4wd auto 2ct? if so It may already have extra horizontal rad at front+fans, just the fans might not come on until it gets above 217f. I have not investigated mine yet, need to confirm its...
looking for a tail light myself, i have a cracked one, seems like they are quite rare . i have seen them with orange lenses up top but not clear ones which is what is on the other side of my van.
finally, i got 240km munched today. Passed the big test last week, still weeping on a rear brake cylinder (drum) and needs tracking, but good to go.
its a hoot! like driving a motorized see saw.....

good luck with it, plenty of road testing to be had with Toyota that's for sure :-)
. couldnt find any on the shelf over here
kool it , paso robles CA. pn: VA02/AP70 -LL40 . i was hoping the shroud would make up for the compact fans, should use 100% of rad instead of 43%. when your guessing a design just squeeze what ya...
been away from home a while. managed to get some time on the cooling bits. could not find any beam clamps locally so i made some up. shroud is ready to fit and made a simple m16 x 1.5 adaptor for...

thanks for the input.
i had a look at your threads and radiator shroud, excellent job. i thought about stuff.
im going with two sensors, it'l be experimentation to find the sweet spots...
i thought that also. two smaller 9" fans would cover more sq area even without a shroud. the fan is 11, the rad area is approx 20" x 12". / 515 x 310mm. is it the same as gasoline size?.
here is a look at the current radiator fan setup
