Yeah, toyotapartszone wants about $180, napa doesn't have anything, and autozone wants about $150
I'll use car-parts.com and find one. I'll take pics when I get it to show where the marks are in...
Question....Should I buy a brand new pulley ($$$$) or try a jyard one?:cnfsd:
Does anyone know where the timing mark on the pulley should be in relation to the keyway?
The mark on the left of...
Some pics...
Keyway and key look fine

Thanks NEC, that's good to know.
I picked up my napa ignition coil since I had to pay for it before they ordered it. I'll keep it on hand for now, since I can return it as long as I don't install...
Yes, I do remember reading that at one time. Unfortunately I don't know of any other vans in the area, heck even the junkyards here don't have any vans. Looks like I can get an ecu for...
It's running fine in the driveway now... I did have a code 43 pop up (starter circuit), but I think that was from my starter getting hot trying to start it when I was on the side of the road. One of...
Well its been running fine all morning, no stumbling or anything. Idle has been a little lopey, but other than that its been good. Up until now. It just died on me at a stoplight and it wont start....
So I installed the Autozone ignition coil. I also found TDC as best I could and put a new mark on the pulley. I set the timing and I must be close. The van right now is running better than it has...
So, I've now got a few hours to finally work on the van again. I have a manual now , so I decided to actually use it and test the ignition coil and distributor with the multimeter like it...
Thanks NEC, that's what I was thinking of doing for now.
I think for my original problem, I may have to have a look at my ECU. So far, I've changed everything else. :(
Heading to work out of...
Here's a vid of how the van runs right now. Doesn't sound super bad, but after about 15 minutes of driving around, it will start missing real bad, sputtering, etc...

went out and used my hands to crank the pulley around and there is definitely only one timing mark on it.
I pulled the spark plug and found TDC by cranking the pulley by hand and this is where the...
Well, the timing definitely changes with the terminal jumped and with it not jumped, and by my rough estimates, it seems to jump how much it should, but because the mark on my pulley is off, I don't...
Definitely not putting any wooden spoons in there!
I don't think it is my tps, because when I use my finger over the 1 cylinder and use a socket to turn the crankshaft pulley to find TDC,...
Swapped the igniter and the van started... The timing was way off, as in it was not even close to the timing indicators. It was showing up at about 9 o'clock on the pulley. :cnfsd: I could move...
I know, it's rediculous that I don't have one yet! When I do have money and search for one, I can't find one, but then they pop up like crazy when I'm broke. (EDIT) I just bought one of the...
Thanks Tim! I called every junk yard in the county and no one had a van or the part. :( The closest junk yard is actually closed today, so that's the only one I don't know about. One was very...
This has been one heck of a week..
Monday morning my wife's truck had a flat tire that I had to change
Tuesday morning the van had a flat tire that I had to change
Tuesday afternoon the headgasket...
So the last few months I've had troubles with the van intermittently running on 3 cylinders (starts to sound like an old vw bus). When it started doing it, it would just happen every once in awhile...
Thanks Tim  That's what I thought, but I just wanted to double check. (this sucks working on this thing without a manual....)
I'll start a new thread later today about the troubles I'm...
Is there a certain RPM that the van should be running at while doing the timing?
I wish I had a garage... I haven't been able to fix it yet because we've either had rain or really wet thick fog during all the times I've had time to fix this. You don't realize how often you...
how old are your shocks?
Cool, I actually have plenty of that type of stuff! I'll be taking care of this tomorrow. thanks for the info Tim
I know it's a simple chore, but I might even take pics.
Yesterday morning, I shut my driverside door and my mirror fell off. :LOL2: It's just the actual glass/plastic mirror and not the whole mirror unit itself. I'll take pics later and post them, but...
bummer, hopefully it lasts awhile. I know what it's like when your work vehicle goes down for major repairs, it sucks.
Ooops! Try it now, I think I fixed it.
Here's a good guide for deciphering the axle codes and gear ratios for toyotas by using the codes on your door sticker.
Yeah, the ARB's are tried and true and very good. Sounds like your compressor will work just fine. If I remember correctly, if everything is set up correctly and sealed correctly, the compressor...
Tim there are no electric lockers available for the 7.5, but there is an ARB air locker which is similar in the fact that you can turn it on and off. You do need some type of on board air though as...
I don't know for sure, what years, but your best bet are probably 80's up until the 95ish when the tacomas came into play. I'm found a cool pdf with a chart for decoding the diff size and gear...
just google " 7.5" toyota ring and pinion " and you should have plenty of aftermarket gears available. While you're in there, you could even throw in an aussie locker, arb locker, or a...
As far as I know, these have the same rear 7.5" differential as the the 2wd toyota trucks, so gears, parts, and whole diffs should be easy to come by. The reason you're having trouble is because you...
For an awesome step by step (w/ pics) how to on removing the alternator, check out llamavan's thread.
How to remove your alternator
These are known for eating alternators, and one of the warning signs is the "christmas dash" which is pretty much all your warning lights lighting up except for the check engine light. Usually it...
Be sure to take pics and report back on how it works.
