Re: stuck brake drum - last resort?

This thread helped me a bit today, and I have some to add.

Got the bolts in. I would make a few turns and whack it with a hammer to encourage movement, and I was making slow, careful progress I...
  2. Re: Where is the PCV? (burning oil)

I have personally confirmed the dipstick reading. (In other words, I was the dipstick doing the reading.)

Vehicle was level. Oil smells like oil.

Thanks to EVERYONE that contributed! I hope I...
  3. Re: Where is the PCV? (burning oil) MORE MYSTERY!

So... Son comes home, and I describe that while he was gone I discovered oil was low, how I did the PCV but let's do an oil change, get some extra oill to keep in the van and keep an eye on the level...
  4. Re: Where is the PCV? (burning oil)

Dig. I am still laughing at myself for totally not seeing the PCV. Turns out I could get to it no prob after pulling a few other hoses. Straight hose seems to be working fine. 7272
  5. Re: Where is the PCV? (burning oil)

    UPDATE:

PCV is fine. It's an OEM and all metal. Makes the Beck-Arnley thing look like a piece of junk. Also, a quick test showed the new one did not hold vacuum, so... Yeah.

    The interesting...
  6. Re: Where is the PCV? (burning oil)

Thanks for the replies! I could not see the rear-most hose from the vantage of the seat-hatch.

I'll find out soon enough by myself, but do I have to pull the seats, etc, or is it reachable from...

Reason I'm replacing: Van seems to be burning a lot of...

Re: Alternator Buzzing / Noise with key off

The good news is, I think I know what's up. The bad news is that you've got a brand-new bad alternator. Specifically, the diode.

I was already thinking about the diode, then I saw the part about...
  9. Re: Compression test results and some sparkplug questions

The shrapnel is definitely from the tube, not the engine. I'm kinda spooked by the way it's installed, and am hoping to get confirmation. Should tube be tightened between engine and plug?
  10. Compression test results and some sparkplug questions

Compression test results: Cyls 2,3,4= 170psi Cyl 1 = 150 psi. Not bad overall, but a 20 psi difference?

Also - I was a little weirded out by the sparkplug situation. What is weird is that...

    Re: Removing window tinting

Having read all this, I was waiting for my sister to get back from a trip so I could borrow her garment steamer. THEN I REMEMBERED I HAVE A FREAKIN' STEAM IRON IN MY CLOSET. Duh!

    Works like a...

Cali boy looking out of state: SHHMOG?

Sooo.... What's the deal with buying a vehicle out of state and bringing it to California?

Reg'ing does not seem to be a problem, but what about smog stuff? If it was not a car originally destined...

Does someone need a Pony Express to Southern Oregon? I know a guy who might be headed your way, Geoff.
    I'm in Campbell, Crippler.
