  1. '84 Manual Speedometer cable and instrument cluster

    Hello,
Finally got my hands on a parts van, but it's a manual and an 84, I have an 85 automatic so there's some good parts there that I have no use for.

I pulled the entire speedometer cable...
  2. Re: Radiators compared 84/85, 86-89 2WD, 87-89 4WD)

Great, will do (once I get my hands on it :))
    Thank you so much!
  3. Re: Radiator Question

    Hey Gwen!
Any experience with swapping a 84-85' (MT) radiator with a automatic transmission van (same years 84-85)? I know I would have to add a small transmission cooler. Potential parts vans are...

    Re: Automatic transmission shift issues

Hey Tim, I'm happy to report I got my Van on the road last night for the first time in 16 years.
I ended up making the trip to a salvage yard on Long Island and picked up a used transmission for...

    Re: Automatic transmission shift issues

I was thinking the same thing about the fluid pressure, it feels like it needs that extra 1000rpm to build enough umpfh to shift itself into Drive. I'm going to try that test with the gauge that's...

    Re: Wheel bearing parts

Seems to be some disagreement :LOL2:

Maybe the bearings come greased for some initial lubrication, but after that they share the gear oil with the rear differential? :cnfsd:

    Re: Automatic transmission shift issues

So, assuming the throttle cable is good, and pulling and retracting as it should, what else should be checked if an automatic transmission isn't shifting right away?
    My Van's been sitting since...

    Re: Wheel bearing parts

Hey Tim, sorry for the dumb question, but just for clarification, are the rear wheel bearings lubricated by the same gear oil in the rear dif? So by changing the gear oil you are also changing the...

    Re: Rear wheel bearing

Sorry to hijack an old thread, but I was wondering, are these rear bearings packed with grease, or are they lubricated with the gear oil from the rear diff?

Re: Best spare parts to grab from a U-Pull-it?

Figured the rubber seal around the access door will eventually rot like they do in the older T.V's. Fuse cover seems like something that could potentially crack in time, 30 year old plastic sitting...

Re: Best spare parts to grab from a U-Pull-it?

[QUOTE=John Kaufmann;46403]May I ask where you found this? (and - bonus question - where the yard found it?)

Sure, van is at the EZ Pull in New Ringgold. They don't inventory their parts online so...

Best spare parts to grab from a U-Pull-it?

    Hello everyone!
Last Friday I went to a local EZ pull and hit the jackpot. I found a 1991 Previa just like mine- auto, RWD, white exterior, blue interior. It has 245k on the odometer so it had a...

    Re: Bad Fuel Starting Question

Hey! I'm currently restoring an '85 that sat for years so I just went through this. Why don't you use the drain plug on the tank and see what kind of gas comes out. It is just a 3/8" square drive. If...

Hey, I'm doing the drum brakes on my 1985 now, and they are M8 1.25. Good luck! :dance2:
