    Re: 195 75r14's on a 4wd?

Yep what tim said. The 195s are a little smaller so your odometer will spin faster and speedometer will be slower, about 1.5 MPH. When weighed down with camping gear these vans are pretty gutless, so...

Re: New van owner. Need help with manual transmision

My mechanic will work on these vans. He is busy, and you may need to wait for an APPT, but his prices are reasonable. He is located near Roseville, CA.
  3. Re: Excessive oil consumption

Did you ever try the 20w50 or 5w50 wt oil?

Edited: Nevermind, I see that you are running the 20w50.

    Re: Windshield removal

Its difficult to cut out a windshield without breaking the glass. Luckily there are cheap chinese windshields available for our vans. Having the right tools can make it easier.

    Re: Windshield removal

The factory parts diagrams for the trim and windshield show a rubber gasket. The Van has a Windshield dam kit, Part # 04562-30040 for around $40.

Look at the parts diagrams I linked to in my...

    Re: Oil Change

The actual oil change interval (OCI) really depends on the mileage of your van, the type of oil your using and how your driving. For example, if your going to one of those quicky lube places and...

The windshield is glued in place with either urethane adhesive or butyl rubber. Most likely they used urethane as this is the norm but as I said before there are lots of hacks out there. I've even...

    Re: Windshield removal

Hi Gwen. I though I was the only one on here at 4 am!:wave1: LOL.

I was referring to the US vanwagon as "masterace" because they share many of the same parts as the JDM counterparts, including the...

    Re: Windshield removal

All the US masterace vans use the same windshield, '84-89. There are two colors available a bronze tint/shade and a green or blue tint/shade.

Nice find. I like the Delica star wagons too.

These late 80's early 90's JDM Town Ace 4x4s have really appreciated in the last couple years. Haven't seen a nice one sell for less than $14K here...

    Re: Question about 27X8.50R14LT tires

I can't find the BFG A/Ts in this size. I guess they are not made anymore.

All I can find are the Maxxis Big Horn and General Grabbers in 27x8.5x14. Super Swamper makes a real aggressive...

    Question about 27X8.50R14LT tires

    Does the tire size
27X8.50R14LT fit in the undercarriage spare tire carrier?

Thinking about upgrading to this size but need to know if I can carry a spare.
  13. Re: Excessive oil consumption

5w50 and 0w50 are multigrades. This means that during cold weather the oil acts as a thin 5w or 0w, and then thickens up to a 50w oil at 210F. That is how all multi-weight oils are rated. A 5w30 and...
  14. Re: Excessive oil consumption

Have you tried 5w50 or 0w50? Might give you everything you need for all season performance while minimizing oil consumption.
  15. Re: Zerk Fitting for Upper Control Arm Ball Joints

  16. Re: Another overheating issue, searched but need insight

You can test your thermostat. Not sure if you've done that yet.

Heat up a pan of water on the stove.
Stick a candy thermometer in the pan to measure temp.
Put thermostat in pan. You should be...

    Will these 6 mm x 1"...
  18. Re: Oil pressure light on for a few seconds at start-up?

My van was doing that too. Previous owner said it was normal. He was running Dino 20w50 when I got it.

I changed the oil to synthetic 5w30 and it went away almost immediately. I would guess there...
  19. Re: Suspicious noises coming from the engine..

How long do you run it with the oil/kerosene mix in the crankcase?

Do you actually run the engine with a load (driving it) or do you just rev it while stationary?
  20. Re: 1989 JDM TownAce 5sp 2C-T Turbo Diesel 4x4 5spd - 112K miles - OR

  21. Re: 1989 JDM TownAce 5sp 2C-T Turbo Diesel 4x4 5spd - 112K miles - OR

When I initially posted this here he only had one picture and the opening bid was $20k. Maybe the high price was a placeholder until he could upload more pictures. I will change the description.

  26. Re: Heater core no coolant circulation, but not plugged...water pump dying?

Nothing. It's been about a month. I'm guessing it's a "buy now wait till we get some in" scenario.

I think I will contact them and ask what is going on. Thanks for the reminder.
