Does your light go on and off at random? Mine kind of does it randomly but it actually does it more at idle, and when I accelerate it usually cuts off. My oil is full as well. Not sure what the deal...
I just got some parts off of a 84 early style. I had intentions to grab the windshield. The owner was trying to help me and broke it:dizzy: Oh well. Anyways this one did not have a gasket just...
Thanks. Its always a good feeling to have to fix something that was done wrong by a previous owner. Now I know it is correct.
Fixed the problem. The previous owner had the power wire to the starter running from the top around and it was rubbed bare. So note the starter wire should run underneath.
Fixed the problem. One was moved sideways
Still no luck. Really frustrating. I obviously have a short but I can't for the life of me figure out where.
I have done a lot of maintenance work to my van this year. After installing new motor mounts the van and steering wheel shake worse than before. Any recommendations?
I got in my van this morning and it didn't start. No power at all. Thinking something was left on I went to charge the battery. I then noticed that the terminal connecter was just hanging there. I...
I put a another fuel filter on and noticed that the one I took off was bent on the bottom. It looks like I may have mounted it a bit to low on the sleeve and when hitting a bump in the road it got...
Its hard to tell exactly where the leak is but it is surely on the lower half side. I am going to replace the unit and be sure to use new washers. Hopefully that will solve the problem.
You it is possible that I did not replace the copper washers. It's been a few months since I did the work. If they came with the filter I know I would have used them but I know sometimes they don't....
Nice. Thanks!
I found and read the write up about the fuel pressure regulator. Super informative. Im thinking my problem isn't that. Im looking at getting a vented gas cap. Any thought or recommendations?
My van is a cargo van with the leaf springs. I am wondering how much I can carry inside it. Would it be similar to a small Toyota pick up. I carry stuff all the time in my Honda Element but that is...
So as previously posted, I am having some problems with my fuel system. When I got fuel and unscrewed my gas cap I noticed that I had a lot of pressure release. I did not know if it was normal...
I replaced the fuel filter recently and after driving it today it sprung a leak. I have driven it for about an hour or so since replacing the fuel filter. The obvious thing I felt to was to tighten...
I ended up just using a light and found the problem the power wire to the starter was grounding out. Never would have guessed that would be it. So glad i can drive this thing now!
Yea I smoked my tester. Ha Ha. I just got a new one and see where it has the volt settings. What did you mean by putting one lead one the battery post and the other on the battery cable. I must have...
I tested it on the 12 volt setting. Aren't these numbers consistent to a 12volt battery charged. I took the power wire off and put one prong to the positive on the battery and the other to the hot...
This is some wiring that seems a bit out of place. Although it looks to be above the quality of a do it yourselfer. I think this wiring has to do with the alarm. Does anyone know if your van has...
23122313Well. I just spent some time testing. Just after getting done my meter went crazy bringing up a ton of random numbers. So when you do this you do it with the van in the off position correct....
Man your awesome! thank you so much for the time. I will be back in it at some point over the next few days. Now I understand how the pulling the fuses helps locate the problem. The people who owned...
Thanks. Yea so I checked my van today and found a dead battery. Apparently it wasn't the ground cable. Glad I put a new one on though because it needed it bad. So please help me understand how it...
Today I checked out the ground strap. Mine was horrible at every end. Its interesting that from the battery the ground goes from there to the chassis then on to the engine block. Is there a reason...
Yup I did that test. No spark, and my diode has the coating and looks bran new.????
Well I tool apart my alternator and everything looked great. I still installed a new regulator but after a full charge my battery drained in about a day. GRRR. Its the one single thing I need to fix...
Yea I don't see one of those in my future ha ha.
Tim. You are awesome! Thank you so much for your work o the site. I read the thread that you referred me to. Ill be getting into it this week. I just installed a new master cylinder and rear wheel...
Thats a good point to consider. I wouldn't know, I've never seen one in use. On a scale of one to ten how well did they work / keep cold. Mine is missing the ice trays but it would be awesome to have...
Long before I bought my van I picked up a cooler thinking if I ever got a Toyota van I would want to use it. They are so cool. Ha ha no punn intended. I have all of the brackets etc and my Van does...
I got this van with low miles and it is in pretty good condition. I have been doing a ton of neglected maintenance. New front end, plugs wires, cap, rotor, master cylinder, brakes etc. I have...
