Sorry I was thinking of the washer pump...just remove backdoor panel and remove wire
there is a pump relay in the side panel where the water reservoir is.....it has stuck on and needs replacement....there is a after market one for ten bucks in automotive part shops, which fits.

The tail housing bushing is readily available from Rock Auto for a few dollars
I "rectified" this problem by replacing the diode bridge....
maybe the metal pipe leads to the vacuum brake booster
somewhere in this forum Tim mentions a place that rebuilds these steering arms for about 3 hundred dollars, in California. I was contemplating this approach before I was lucky to find a used one...
I just bent p a piece of electrical metallic tubing last week for
a swing gate......not pretty-but functional
yeah I stand corrected.........having come to the realization that my experience was with the auto tranny about an hour after I posted.....still those with the auto 86-89 would be wise to grab an...
the only difference between the drive shafts is that the 84-85 ones are repairable ....replacing u joints that is... where as the 86-89 are staked and one cant replace the u joints......I suggest...
mighty weird . i swapped a trany from an 1985 into a 1988 and then a few years later installed the 1988 back into the 1985.............its a long story...
no...it wont fit....4wd drive one isn't so tall and is a bit wider
does the voltage drop under load ie lights and heater fan......I know it is a new alternator....but maybe defective diode.......was the alternator installed before the battery install defect?
BB the splice I did with a marette has been good for 5 years ....no problem.....I used a little anti oxidant goo also for good measure[nolox]...marettes don't carry current ,just hold the wire......I...
my positive connection failed and melted the little black terminal box.............I cut the two eyes off the wires ,stripped about an inch of wire jacket off and used a splice cap/marrette .....a...
sounds like there isn't enough tranny fluid ....even though you put in two quarts......check it when it is warm and running
more than likely it is a seized on relay mounted on the reservoir.....the funny thing bout this Is that I found a relay that fit at a local hardware store in the auto section for 10 dollars
is the ground cable good?
sounds like a dead alternator to me or bad charge fuse or problem with wiring in the charge circuit.
NIk
splice two of the three .....leave the one for the marker lights disconnected..that is what I did....took a bit of trial and error to find the right comb...NIk
I believe, if I remember correctly that diode allows the side marker lights to come on when the turn signals are on it stops current from back feeding the headlghts ....hard to explain.........I...
I feel that these trannys are bullet proof.........new oil , a filter and pan gasket.......good to go
I feel that these trannys are bullet proof.........new oil a filter and pan gasket.......good to go
thanks for that Tim and "Red" thanks you too........
maybe check out the coil with an
ohmmeter
Ryan, there are a few guys here looking for that part.....it is only found on 84-85 vans.............important to check it for slop before removal from donor van and important to do a good lube job...
Ian, there are a few guys on here looking for a center link steering arm [myself included]....it is a very distinctive "L" shape part of the steering linkage on the drivers side......tis important...
exhaust in coolant looks like bubbles in the radiator or water/bubbles coming out of the water reservoir overflow
if you have exhaust in your coolant ,which is a common scenario regarding headgasket failure, it tends to pressurize the cooling system and pumps coolant out of the overflow tank. if you are not...
there is a cold start injector circuit with a temperature sensor......my cold start system died and I rigged up a push button cold start button wired directly to the cold start...
have you checked the tranny fluid....with the engine running?
yes the diodes are in the alternator and convert AC to direct current I had this problem a month ago because of a leaky steering pump....though I am sure diodes can die just for the hec of it. I...
Jerome ,more than likely the rectifier bridge diodes are dead..........is your power steering pump leaking? Nik
get a parts van......haha.........for the84-8 vans something called a center arm assembly is hard to find . And I bet it has been the death knell for a few fine vans. Every other part seems to be...
http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/531448 Hopefully you don't need the center steering control arm.......it is an L shaped piece with a knuckle at one end
there is just one small difference between gen 1 and 2 that I have found just recently is that one of the vacuum snorkels faces a 180 degrees opposed
Just a silly observation one my part
the switch is connected to the connector in/on the transmission. its mechanically switched inside he trans.
Re the back door catch......I have repaired one of those......I learnt patience....Suffice to say it is possible..........what happens is that the spring end rusts/breaks off.....I drilled out the...
