    I've done more research and the input shaft is o different splines. - I'm told you can swap the auto input to the hi/lo and then its a bolt in, other than the linkage.

    If you are getting binding I suspect you are bottoming out the sliding spline, or its getting too "tippy fingers".

    I don't think the 1/2" would make any difference whatsoever, even if not lifted. What matters is not bottoming the DS out, as that will BREAK the U-Joint. (ask me how I know...)

    Same Q as you. I assume the earlier (pre 1987) 2wd vans used similar torsion bars if not the same.

    The 2WD vans do ride lower, so you may get more effective lift from the springs than I did as...
