Sounds like a dead battery and yes visual in not enough. Test for continuity in each fusible link
I'd double check the wires and make sure their in correct order? I'm guilty of putting them back in the wrong sequence and when I turned the key it would try to attempt to fire up and die...
Facing the windshield: back left should be another 14mm bolt (in order to access the seat has to be slid up), back right will be a nut that needs to be removed under the wheel well

Issues has been resolved. I had overlooked one vacuum line (Doh!) the line that connects the IAC valve to one of those little ports on the side. It had popped off the plastic port where I couldn't...

you can easily access it from underneath. I believe only two bolts keep it in place. Should only take a few minutes to drop! :)
