    Re: Changing the fuel filter

Hey! Did your FRAM filter come with crush washers? If not, does anyone know the part number for correct size crush washers? I've been burned by incorrect supplied ones before

    Also, anyone...
  2. Re: Hollowed out catalytic converter bad for engine?

I haven't checked the codes in awhile, I know my o2 sensors have been toast since I got the van a year ago though. I'll check the codes. Thanks again Tim!
  3. Re: Hollowed out catalytic converter bad for engine?

Not sure I'll be able to reuse the existing fitting anyway as the bolts are seized as hell. Maybe some time soaking in penetrating oil would sort it out. But do the symptoms I'm experiencing sound...
  4. Re: Van Wagon weird sounds and rough running- Suggestions?

My van has a severe rattle on the underside from the loose honeycomb material in the catalytic converter. Should be on the driver side right behind the front wheel.
  5. Re: Hollowed out catalytic converter bad for engine?

Hey Tim, my cat has been rattling like crazy at idle as long as I've owned my van and now I seems to have stopped + the van is severely lacking power. It also occasionally stalls immediately after...
  6. Re: Fuse # 5 Dome Is good. Clock is known good but clock does not function

Nevermind! Just re read that its the cig fuse not the charge fuse! Hopefully that's the problem.
  7. Re: Fuse # 5 Dome Is good. Clock is known good but clock does not function

roflroflroflrofl! I was just pumping up my tires with a 9 volt compressor and I accidentally pulled out the cord from the plug. Must've shorted because I no longer have power in the 9v outlets and no...

    Re: Water Pump Replacement

Hey all, my Chilton service manual doesn't seem to have any info related to the water pump replacement. Does anyone here have any relatively detailed or illustrated resources on it? Feeling a little...
  9. Re: Getting to know all the coolant hoses of your Vanwagon!

So rear heater inlet A goes to a pipe that then connects to rear heater inlet E and onto the heater core? Makes sense.
And the breather hose just vents coolant through the filler neck out to the...
  10. Re: Getting to know all the coolant hoses of your Vanwagon!

Oh also, pardon my ignorance but where does the breather hose go?
  11. Re: Getting to know all the coolant hoses of your Vanwagon!

I'm a little confused Gwen! The image that shows the rear heater seems to suggest the heater core and rear heater are separate parts and that the coolant goes through the rear heater, then the heater...

Re: Annoying squeak from pop-up sunroof

If you take the clips off the trim around the sunroof you can get between the headliner and the body. I've had some luck reducing rattle by stuffing some foam in there. Not sure it'd put enough...

My service manual makes no mention of how to drain the power steering reservoir, only how to top it up. Is this simply unnecessary? I have been draining and replacing fluids one by one and figured...

    Re: ELECTRIC DOOR-LOCKS....TROUBLE-SHOOTING

Hey Tim, have you got any experience rebuilding power lock switches? I was having a problem where my power lock switch would lock the doors but not unlock them. At first I wasn't sure it was the...
  19. Re: Getting to know all the coolant hoses of your Vanwagon!

I seem to have a small leak in the hose to the overflow tank. I guess it's part #90099-33393 but it seems to be NLA. Anyone know where I can find this?

You are missing a small clip that stops the little flap at about 90 degrees. I think it's a guide that helps the sunroof close? In any case I've successfully jerry rigged a clip out of an old retail...
  28. Re: automatic transmission oil pan - which sealant to use?

I recently replaced my ATF filter with a FRAM one and it came with a new tranny pan gasket, I didnt use any sealant and haven't had any problems with leaks.
