Hello everybody, newb here with a A/C Question.

    I have a 87 DLX auto 2WD Van.

My question is, while the A/C is on, my van's idle doesn't go up. Does anybody have pics of where the A/C idle up is? It's starting to get hot here, and sitting in Hawaii traffic without A/C is not my idea of fun lol.

I was looking at TVP and found my way here....seems more active here.

Check your AC Idle-up VSV & the AC Idle-up Diaphragm. Here's pictures of both:

    VSV

    Diaphragm

The last 2 pages of the AC section in the factory service manual show how to check the VSV. As for the diaphragm, if it can hold a vacuum on the aft port, then it's good. If it can't, then it's bad. Tim

Ok, I've changed pretty much everything except the compressor, now it wont come cold. Low side I read 50, high side is at 155. Coldest it'll get is 68, we think there's a restriction someplace like the rear evap, since we haven't touched it yet. Would that cause the A/C to not come cold? Also the compressor is always cycling, A/C is off and it's running like it's on....guessing it's shorting out someplace? Any help would be much appreciated.

Pressure should be 21-28 psi on the low side & 206-213 psi on the high side. When pressure is too high on low side & too low on high side (as is the case here), it's an indication of internal damage to the compressor. Could be a damaged seal or damage to the compressor piston or a valve. Either way, it's time for another compressor. Tim

So after talking with my brother, it turns out we did change the compressor lol. This is what we didn't change yet.

Front and Rear Condenser, and the Rear Evap and Expansion valve.

Think it's the condenser not making it cold cold?
What do you think about the compressor always running even though the A/C is off??

Your description of the problem still points to a bad compressor. Was the one you put on new or used? No, the compressor should not run unless the AC switch is turned on. Something else going on there. Tim
