hole(s) in my tranmission pan
Hi everyone, just want to say thanks for all this great information.
I took my 86 van camping in the Cascades this weekend and great time! I like to explore the old logging roads when I go and the old van did great. Except I bottomed out in a washed out part of the road and tore a couple of holes in my transmission pan. I didn't find it right away and lost a fair amount of ATF. When I did I manages to get some epoxy putty to plug it up enough to drive home.
Now I need to know how to replace the transmission pan and how big of a job it can be. What are the part numbers and where can I get them?
My new motto: epoxy putty, don't leave home with out it!
thanks!

Re: hole(s) in my tranmission pan
Hey cholla13,
I just pulled the pan off my '84 automatic to get at the valve body last week. For that one at least, it's not a huge job, the actual removal and re install of the pan only took me about two hours. There's a lot of bolts holding it on though which can be a little time consuming. Oh, and be prepared to deal with a lot of ATF coming out.
Good tip about the epoxy putty, I'll be sure to pick some of that up.
