That is my question also...can you buy pins and bushings anywhere for these vans? I have not been able to locate any.

Re: Adjusting or replacing front door hinges

I will eventually tackle this repair as I can't see paying $80 each for new door hinges. Toyota permanently installed the hinge pins by staking them in, but a grinder and a punch is all it takes to remove them. Once the pin is removed the holes can be drilled bigger and new pins/bushings can be installed. When I do the job I'll make a post telling members part numbers and where to get them..........unless somebody beats me to it. Tim

When I do mine the pins are going to be removable. No more pulling the fender if I want to remove my door. Tim

No. I have been looking for years. If you find them please post it here for the rest of us. I even looked at other makes and models for a substitute. No way.

There is nothing packaged exclusively for the van, but there are those bins at some of the bigger hardware stores that would likely have the necessary pins & bushings. Somebody just needs to figure out which combination works the best for our vans. Bronze bushings with steel pins would be preferred (as these wear well together). Tim

Re: Adjusting or replacing front door hinges

anyone ever crack the pin/bushing replacement discussed here?

Got loose hinges I can live with but if there was a fix easier than the whole panel remove debacle I might tackle it.

Re: Adjusting or replacing front door hinges

Haven't done it to the van, but on my 80s toyota truck I cut out the pins that were permanently pressed in and used bushings and pins from the hardware store that had a hole for a cotter pin on the bottom, now I have quick release doors for summer, just pull out the cotter and slide the pin out.

    hello,

is this also the same procedure for a second gen '87 4WD van?

    any response is appreciated.

Cornering light removal is definitely different. I recall that someone else used this 1st gen step-by-step said the remainder is essentially the same. Good luck!

Re: Adjusting or replacing front door hinges

anyone know if you can use a set of passenger side hinges on the drivers side door?

Looks like there may be some offset to the bolt holes (?)

Re: Adjusting or replacing front door hinges

According to the part numbers, the upper left is the same as the lower right, and the lower left is the same as the upper right. So the answer would be yes.

Re: Adjusting or replacing front door hinges

This question is the reason I joined this forum... has anyone figured out the bushing problem yet? Is there a compatible vehicle that we can order bushings for, or has anyone done the measurements? If there is still no one out there with the answer I can be the guinea pig I guess, but my van is my only vehicle so it's going to be me driving around to hardware stores without a door while I figure it out

I am also looking for an answer I suppose cutting the old pins out and replacing with something similar would work? Did anyone ever end up doing this?
