    A/C Compressor Replacement

Hi all, just purchased 1988 TownAce, and this is my first post on the forum.

I was wondering if anyone has replaced an A/C compressor for one of these vans or a related model. I've scoured through some diagrams and used the parts list posts from here to pretty much find whatever I need for parts. Any links or suggestions would be appreciated.

I'm in the Seattle area, and so I'm within a reasonable distance to Silk Road and Japanoid up in BC. Have you all had good experiences with them and do you know if they sell/ship parts vs. only servicing these vehicles?

Also, any recommendations for local mechanics. I've gotten a few so far, especially ones that work on gasoline Toyota Vans, but am looking for a solid diesel shop with import experience.

    Cheers,

    Brett

I've used RockyMountainImports in Victoria B.C. I believe they will ship to the U.S. but at a hefty price or you could pick it up from there but then again it'll cost time and money to get the part.

Have you checked to see if the part number will interchange with a U.S. van some parts do interchange.

Not to bash anyone but I pulled the Google reviews on Japaniod and the first impression isn't to promising for me to contact them. Have a look-

    Just my 2¢

    Ridiculous prices, ridiculous service...
there was no leaks before i went here... went and got an oil change done, Shogo tells me i have an oil leak... the very next day seen oil spots on my garage floor!! wtf??? what did u guys do?!
check the oil, its way over filled... got my friend to drain some of the oil for me, and voila! oil leaks gone...
and you know how other shops will check the basics on your car (brakes, fluids etc) included in an oil change... not here... its a half hour labour charge for that.... are u frkn kidding me??

Superb service and really helpful - Shogo helped a lot when our car was damaged and made the process for parts and service very simple. Thanks for helping us with our Domingo!

Once they have you're money they treat you like s***. We had them import a vehicle for us and they messed us around for 2 years after bringing it in with the wrong sized wheels. They're overpriced no matter what you want. If you need parts got to Rocky Mountain Imports (also for importing vehicles) and CVI Auto in Richmond can do all the services you need for a fair price. DON'T GO TO JAPANOID!!!!!

    Re: A/C Compressor Replacement

Thanks for the response, I'll look into the shop in Victoria. I haven't had any personal experience with Japanoid, but I also some some reviews and have a current issue with the van based on some previous work they did.

I did a first glance at a comparison with a US Van, but the parts looked slightly different, not to say they couldn't be retro'd. I have been referencing the parts lists/search that are mentioned in this forum, but do you have a better source for x-referencing parts once they are identified?

I've got suspension and exhaust replacements that I'd like to do later this year and so it would be great to find US parts for that as well.

    Cheers,

    Brett

Are you using the ToyoDiy site for your cross referancing, that's the only one I know of but there might be more out there. I did a lot of trial and error reading and digging around to find that one and have stuck it.

    Yes, and this one:

They both seem pretty solid so far.
