    Wheel bearings or tie rod?

The other day I was driving my TownAce and my oldest son was sitting in the left front passenger seat and notice the floor vibrating when I got up to 25 mph and higher and also pointed out the whomp whomp whomp noise coming from the left side and said its possibly the wheel bearing or a tie rod if the alignment is off.

With the whomp whomp whomp noise he was leaning more towards the wheel bearing.

And me... I was leaning towards- "let me post it on TVT" and see what the members come up with

Assuming you checked tire pressure Whomp whomp and vibrations sound like tire cupping. Look for irregular, wavy wear on the inboard edge of the tire, some thing is allowing the wheel to wobble, bearing, worn rubber bushing, worn universal joint????? Hopefully its is something simple like that, not an axel problem.

    Thank you

Tire pressure is good all the way around, tire wear is good and they only have 10,000 miles on them. I dropped it off at the shop and they'll have a closer look to the issue and hopefully it's something simple like you've mentioned.

    Update-

I got a call from the shop and the diagnostics were, left wheel rocks back and forth and up and down causing the noise I'm hearing.

The solution--- replace the inner/outter wheel bearing kit

I told them to go ahead and do both sides to eliminate any issues down the road and that way I know that's one more thing to mark off the list

    I'll get it back tomorrow.

Yeah I'm lucky he was riding with me that day, it's been doing it for about 5k-6k miles and I did notice it but don't drive this Van much so I'd always overlook it till I drove it again.

My son worked at the Volvo dealer as a service writer so he picks those things out pretty quick.... To bad he quit and got a better job cause I used to get dealer discounts thru him and could have gotten the parts at his cost.

Picked up the Van and drove it and it's sounding good, no more noise or vibration and they even rotated my tires for me!!
