fuel latch cable - how to thread wire

I took this apart and somehow now I can't figure out the correct method to put it back together.

I have all the parts - just not threading the wire correctly since it does not pull like it used to.

I put that nipple on the wire into the slot in latch nicely and thread the wire through the cutout notch - but does the cable go on the top or bottom of the slide panel?

Anyone got a pic of it correctly threaded?

Gonna sound odd, but here goes.

Open the engine compartment and look at the throttle cable. It assembles just like that one.
