    interesting heating issue, LiteAce 2CT

Now that the sucky cold weather is here I'm getting to use the heater, and the two center vents on the dash will blow cold/cool air out them, I have used the open/close vent to keep them shut.
But still super odd that heat blows out of the 2 other vents on the dash (near passenger door and driver door) and hot air out the defrost vents as well as the floor.

Any idea, let me know. I plan to pull off the dash next chance I get and see what is going on under there.

That's the same way my heater works.

Center vents will blow in outside ambient air, and I use the open/close lever to adjust the flow.

Footwell and the side vents blow the warm air.

If you pull it apart let me know what you find. Mine could be broken or something too! Cold weather ain't sucky

My Townace is the same, with the help of my newphew we had the dash apart about 4-5 years ago but that’s before I knew how important it would have been to take pictures and post up a thread.

Ok today I took a closer look at this mystery of cold air coming thru the middle vents and it was so simple.... when I have the vent lever on “fresh air” selection that’s when the cold air was coming in so then I switched the lever to “recycled air” and then the warm air was coming out of the vents.

I did noticed that on recycled air mode it caused the windows to start fogging up so I went to move the lever back to fresh air and then the lever got stuck, I kept pushing it slowly and then something snapped the lever moved freely and now it’s stuck in recycle air mode.

Soon I’ll need to remove the dash and get into that area to see what came loose. I think there’s a picture somewhere of the lever and section spider.

Found the blog created by armorrell on how to service the climate control spider-

    https://www.toyotavantech.com/forum/...l-Spider-rehab

Even though it’s for the USDM van I’m pretty sure the setup is gonna be the same, the climate control spider in the JDM vans are gonna be smaller, I’m trying to figure out which other Toyota vehicle is gonna be compatible.

I’m thinking the compatible climate control selector for the TownAce, MasterAce, and LiteAce vans in the USDM version of Toyota is probably the 84-89 4WD Toyota Tercel wagon? There’s a couple of them in the wrecking yard so I’m probably gonna check them out.
