jumps when shifting into drive - 1987 Automatic

    Hey Peeps!

My 1987 Automatic 4x4 van 'jumps' when I shift into Drive. Believe the same thing happens when I shift into reverse. Also the engine feels alot "shakier"/louder once I'm in reverse, (both while idleing and moving) plus there is a faint high pitched squeal.

Any ideas on what might be causing this?

    thanks for the help yall!

Higher idle , or the lockdown cable is not adjusted correctly.

if you’re idle has t been touched look for a crack or leak in intake boot.

You may want to spent a little time getting acquainted with the search function, lots of great stuff in there.

For this particular issue you may want to go straight to the thread on motor mounts and also the one on J-joints.
Noises like you describe are, more often than not, the result of something worn out rather than simple idle issues, unless its idling crazy fast.
