Want to add auxiliary light to rear

    Hello All,

Wanting to add a backup light that works off the reverse lights and a switch off the dash.

Need a good path forward. I watched this vid that adds lights that works only off the reverse lights but I need one that will also connect to a switch I can turn on whenever.

Here is where I would like to install it, so a light with a bracket

I removed the OG back up mirror.

Re: Want to add auxiliary light to rear

    Hi.
why not also fit a reverse camera at the same time?
I fitted a reverse camera to my 1998 commuter.
I think it only required running one cable (supplied with the camera) from the reverse light to the front.
I wanted to be able to turn on the camera independently so put a diode in the line and a switch to turn on the camera. If I had left out the diode the reverse lights would have been activated by the switch (you would need to upgrade this one wire to power the lights).
The camera's come with two video inputs so I mounted another camera under the passenger side mirror to see the blind spot.
so I now have a three position switch on the dash up for the side cam down for the back view center off however in the center position the rear camera will come on when reverse gear is selected.

If you still just want to add another light I think you would get away with just running a wire from your existing reverse lights if you use a LED light.
    Regards Mike.
