94 Prev - Decision Time -Good motor, likely bad transmission.
I have a '94 previa that has a normally aspiratored turbo motor (about 115k japaneese) (advanced about 12') but the transmission.... It has been sitting for about four years. Body is is in good to better than good conditions - no dents. It runs reasonably well. A used transmission was installed this summer but apparently it has problems. I do not know the extent as I am not in the area but will be in the area to assess drivability this weekend and Monday. I expect to tow it to storage on Monday and seek out solutions. The previa is located in eastern Idaho north of Idaho Falls. Soliciting all offers and recommendations from repair to salvage. thanks. Chuck

What is a normally aspirated turbo Previa? If you mean supercharged my understanding (which is very limited) is that timing on the SC models can't be advanced.
My recommendation is always repair or sell to someone who will repair. A quart or two of Lucas can fix some tranny slipping problems (2 quarts bought me 8 years) , but you don't specify what problems it is having.

Re: 94 Prev - Decision - Time Good motor, likley bad transmission.
The vehicle has a turbo motor, but does not have the turbo charger. The motor information is likely irrelvant. I drove the vehicle with a replacement used transmission this morning. The transmission makes a knocking sound and slight jerks while in third above 28-30mph. The though is that a spring is broken internally and one of the internal plates is moving around. The recommendation by mechanic, that has a fair amount of experience with Previas, is to part the vehicle.

I also have the old transmission. The vehicle is in Eastern Idaho. I hate write it, but $1000 obo for the vehicle. As I mentioned in the first post, about 115k on the motor.
