Yes, you are correct!
I'd much rather have a manual in my 85. I have the auto in my 85. I don't like the ice maker though.
Here's mine: http://redding.craigslist.org/cto/5629868036.html
Hey Jos, $20 is fine for the glove box plus shipping. No center arm, sorry. The light bezels only fit the 86-89 as they changed the style after 85. PM me your address. It will be a few weeks before I...
I would like to buy your left mirror, gas cap, and the 4 chrome beauty rims. What is the condition of the shift housing? Thanks!
I took my 86 to Burning Man twice. Nothing stops the dust. Bring an extra air filter and swap it out once you hit pavement after the event. When you turn onto the Playa when you get there, close your...
Sent you a pm
If you pull the #2 spark plug wire with it running and the roughness and poor running doesn't change then the #2 plug probably isn't firing properly. The first thing I would look at after that is the...
I believe that yes, the plug would be wet but fuel evaporates quickly and may have dissapated by the time the spark plug has been removed.
Sounds to me like no spark at that cylinder. No burn, no carbon.
I like the idea of the forum being focused on the technical side. There are a couple of sections that allow for us to "chat" and talk about fun or off topic things and that is enough for me.
Thanks, I am editing the first post to reflect parts that have sold.
Hi Blake, $15 plus shipping is fine. PM me your shipping info.
Headlight baskets with bulbs. Will sell as a pair or individually.

Perfect! Thank you. Let me know what you want for it when you get back.
I need the AC spider! Bad!
Make sure you actually pull the reservoir out. I couldn't tell mine was clogged until it was out and empty. Then it was obvious.
You should look for a fire damage restoration company in your area that has a large ultrasonic cleaner. I had one ultrasonic ally clean all of my metal engine parts for my airplane. There is no...
When I was dealing with the power steering problems last week it acted that way. I would take off the power steering reservoir and make sure that the screen it totally clean and flush it with brake...
Thanks you guys. I will be looking into this as soon as I get home.
Ok, so if my system is low, how many cans should I buy to fill up one van? I have two vans that need a recharge.
I want my air conditioner charged with R12, lol. I can't find any shops here in Texas that use it, nor in California where I live. But if Austin doesn't want it, I'll sell it to you.
Problem solved. My troubleshooting worked.
Here was the problem:
The reservoir screen had become completely clogged from sitting for such a long time. It had a black, tar-like goop completely...
Sounds good. So the line coming out of the bottom of the reservoir and going to the top of the pump is the low pressure inlet and the line with the banjo fitting at the bottom of the pump going to...
Can someone post a picture of where the drain on the rack is? I would like to get at it when I remove the reservoir this afternoon.
I got about 550 miles into my first trip from Council Bluffs, IA back to Fort Worth and my power steering pump started whining. I figured that it was low on fluid so I pulled over and bought a quart...
Distributor cap and rotor.
Power steering pump pressure and return lines.
Rear differential oil.
Transmission oil.
Transmission input and output seals.
Rear Main Seal.
Power steering pump. (If...
I do but I am out of state for 3 weeks. If nobody posts before then, than I will post a picture when I get home.
Great thread Tim. Thanks for the pictures. The spider on my 85 2WD with AC is broken. Any idea where I could source one? Mine came broken with the van. This is one of the last things I have left to...
Does this van have a push button switch to turn the overdrive on and off? If so, it may be gummed up and not fully locked into the detent even though it appears so.
Read through this thread it will tell you what you are looking for....
Did you check the fuseable link by the battery?
What is the condition of the head? For the 4YEC I am assuming? How much do you want for it?
How much for the head gasket kit? Do you have a good exhaust manifold? If so, how much?
Sorry I can't be of help. I just got my first 4x4 and haven't had experience with them yet. Give me a year or so and I will be up to speed. Maybe some one else will chime in.
You have a head? Or a head gasket set? Or both? What about interior pieces? Do you have a drivers side door armrest/pull handle?
Thanks for the compliment! I will be posting more writeups and they will get better. There are some excellent writeups on this forum. It is a very valuable resource for van owners.
Well I have been pretty busy and this isn't the best writeup and I didn't get pictures all the way through, however my writeups will get better in the future.
My manual transmission went out on my...
Well I am glad to see Rufus has a new owner who will treat him good. If I were closer I would come help with the job.
Your local autoparts stores usually rent tools. You will need a slide hammer with an axle puller adapter. They come out fairly easy with the right tools.
Once they are out you will want to...
You should buy the factory service manual for your year of van. They can be had on ebay rather reasonably. You will need to remove the instrument cluster and vents from the drivers side of the van. ...
You can order a new brake master cylinder on www.rockauto.com
The price varies from about $32 to $92 plus shipping.
I am going to be replacing my master cylinder on my 1985 this weekend and I will post lots of pictures and a step by step process. I said I would do that for the manual transmission replacement on my...
I ran KYB's on my 86 for 3 years before I sold it and they were great. I am also running a set of freshly installed KYB's on my 85 and I like them. I only buy KYB's. Made in Japan, just like the van.
Thanks for the heads up on Rock Auto. I ordered the rear ones as I got the last two they had in stock shipped to my door for $50. That is a little more than the cost of one on Amazon. The fronts...
Thanks for the OEM P/N's Tim.
I will check Rock Auto!
The 1985 in particular? Why?
I have been experiencing this same issue with my "New" 1985 van with the automatic transmission. It wants to shift at a much higher RPM and later than it should. I adjusted the kickdown cable per the...
Thank you. That must be a proprietary part number on partsgeek. It isn't coming up on Amazon or Google. However I did manage to locate the part numbers for the KYB Shocks for the 1985 2WD van with...
Okay,
I did a thorough search of the forum using the search function and I cannot find part numbers for the front and rear shocks for the 1985 2WD van. I am pretty sure that the P/N#'s will be...
Yes, I did a search for "blower motor" and read a few write ups. I was just having a tough time believing that it was the motor as my other van has 230K miles and I have never had an issue with the...
Well I plan on replacing the power steering pump in the next couple of weeks and that will be the prime time to swap the thermostat. I will be putting an OEM T-Stat in at that time.
