Okay I'm going to pull the pan and replace the strainer assy. Is it 4WD specific? Is this the right kit?...
Unless I misread the dipstick the level looked a little over max actually.
Hi Tim,
Replaced the TMS, got it properly adjusted by following your video (had to use a VPN to view it on YouTube, not throwing codes anymore, but still having the same issue of rough shifting...
Got codes 22 and 51. Am I still looking at TPS replacement or maybe something else?
Thanks Tim!
There is no check engine light on, could it still be sending a code?
Hello,
I have never changed my TPS and have had my automatic 4WD Van from 90k miles to now 207k miles. It is shifting rough when cold, revving a lot before kicking into gear when trying to reverse...
It's a conversion van so it has one aftermarket rear bench seat that bolts down. It's been outside and would need to be steam cleaned or reupholstered.
Where are you located? I have a parts van in upstate NY with front seats.
Does anyone have a link to buy braided steel lines that are the right fit?
What's the best brake pad for a stock 4wd setup? Is there a ceramic pad that will fit? I've already got slotted disks, but I'm having trouble finding a good performance pad.
Thanks,
PK
I got the Bilsteins installed in the front today and I feel a major improvement. I'm about to do the Moog springs but I couldn't tell from your posts and the other rear suspension thread if I was...
Besides the bounce, I feel every tiny little crack and bump in the road right now and the van rattles alot. Are you saying that your Bilsteins setup with the Aerostar springs only minimizes bounce...
I'm selling the Westfalia style kitchen unit out of my Toyota Van poptop camper. Includes 2 burner propane stove, propane heater, sink, cabinetry and 12v electrical wiring. It will be pulled and...
I have a country homes Westfalia style kitchen and heater insert that I'm selling for $400 in Connecticut if anyone is still looking.
Do you still have this parts van? I'm looking for a rear hatch and am in NY too. Thanks!
Thanks for this! Hoping to do it in the next few weeks and will report back once it's installed.
Hi, thanks for the detailed post! Any recommendations for rear suspension upgrades (still running factory original springs and shocks) on my 89 4WD Van? I read what you mentioned about the LSP and BV...
Thanks for this info, are you saying that the 4wd Bilstein 4600's have the correct mounting for the 4WD Vans and that they don't need any mods?
Can you recommend upgrades for the rear suspension...
Timsrv, I can't tell who made my core. If it came from Autozone and it's not a Denso it's not worth rebuilding again right? Even with Denso parts?
Thanks, that was my thought too but I just had my alternator rebuilt 2 months ago by a highly regarded shop in Brooklyn. I'm taking it back to them in the next couple days to see what they say.
I've been going through lots of alternators, once or twice a year. Would this be a result of a bad fusible link?
Thanks for pulling it! Does it have all 4 cables attached still? Is the white plastic in back in good shape and not brittle or cracked?
I hear your concerns and I completely agree. I use the forums for technical support, not a social outlet.
Do any of you currently use the ToyotaVanTech forum from your mobile phones? I've...
To my surprise I can't get Toyota Van Tech to come up on Tapatalk. Is there a way to submit it or set that up? It would be very helpful for being able to access the forum resources while out on the...
Okay thanks, how much for the wedges?
Do you still have those bumper wedges? Also do you have the climate control unit that mounts in the dash and the 4 cables that attach to it?

Thanks you guys. Does anyone know if all 4y motors fit the van? There are some brand new 4y forklift motors on eBay that are the same price as the Rock Auto remanufactured ones.
I'd still prefer...
Thanks Moverbaugh, that's a little pricey for me but I'll keep it in mind as an option.
Hi Guys,
I have a nice west coast van that I brought back to CT with a blown motor. Are the engine blocks basically only used in the vans in the USA or is there crossover with other Toyota models...
Okay I'll take a look at the connections tomorrow and see if my friend can help me check the voltage in the trigger circuit. I realized I was thinking about my Autozone alternators that keep crapping...
Okay thanks for the guidance, I'm reading through the other thread now and looking into checking the contacts tomorrow. If my starter was installed in the fall and the van was garaged for the winter,...
Hi guys,
I'm on my 3rd of 4th autozone starter in 12 months, I've lost count. Can anybody recommend a more reliable source?
Thanks!
