Thinking to swap by van from automatic to manual is it worth it?

Hi, I have a Toyota EFI Van 1984 which is automatic, its being giving me some problems. The engine turns off when I use de breaks to stop in a red light while it's in Drive. I haven't found the problem so I'm thinking to swap from automatic to manual. but, is it worth it?

That type of problem isnt typically caused by a faulty auto transmission.

Better to fix your problems first, then modify it to suit your preferences.

Hi, Burntboot. Thanks for the answer, what do you think is the issue it might be cause this defect. It could be some kind of an air leak? in the motor? My mechanic haven't found the issue. Thanks before hand for the help.

Far too little information to even speculate.

How long you've owned it, how long has it been performing like this, whats already been done, has diagnosis been performed or just firing the parts cannon.
Factory parts or aftermarket, stored codes.....??
