Rebuilding/reusing is ethically admirable too. My MO is to have a small supply of spare wear-prone parts on hand, salvaged from scrap yards. The scrap yard parts ^usually^ work if you're selective in pulling them. It means you have the opportunity to quickly replace, and then rebuild the original bad part at your leisure. I finally replaced a sticking caliper last fall with a scrap yard part. Disassembly of the old caliper revealed that the square-cut rubber piston seal was worn out. Installed new seal and that one is good to go again for when the next failure happens.

Well I opened up the right side And well without saying it was
same shape... needing attention...

the boot was not torn, definitely sealing ... rusty moisture!

oughta clean up gooooood!
no pitting ... just in the nick of time for calipers..
