And wiring up a back up camera so I removed the tail light to see what wires were running into the reverse light bulb and one is a green/yellow stripe and one is a white/black. So I went under the back and tapped into the green/yellow and no luck. I’d go all the way to the bulb, but with the liftgate that is tricky. I’ve read that era of Toyota the reverse lights are a red with a black stripe but looking at what is going to the bulb that doesn’t make much sense. Any help appreciate it, thanks.!

For anyone doing this, the answer is red with a green stripe left back corner you can tie into where the factory has a three wire intersection under the tape. The easier alternative in hindsight would be tap this wire on the reverse switch plug on the right side of the transmission.
